Epilogue – 16: Former Villager A Starts Surveying:-
Welcome folks,
Both the previous chapter and this chapter have a similar title.
But the difference is that in the previous chapter, he was going to survey.
While in this, he begins surveying.

Flying along the river, I spotted a small hill rising from the plateau above the cliff line. There seemed to be a bit of open space on top of the hill, making it seem like a great place to build something.
The hill is surrounded by dense forest, indicating an abundance of water.
If that’s the case, agriculture seems possible, and wouldn’t it be the perfect spot for building a new town?
It seems Ana was thinking the same thing.
“Yeah, that’s right. I think it’s good. Let’s take a closer look.”
“Yes”
I pointed the nose toward the hill and meticulously recorded the terrain data into Buitor Rev. 2.
“……Looks like there aren’t any settlements around here.”
“Yes. This region is remote, and we haven’t been able to eliminate the monsters.”
“I see. So that’s why Father-in-law decided to leave this place in our hands.”
“……That may be true. It is our responsibility to exterminate monsters even in places like this so that the people can live in peace.”
“Yeah, I think so too.”
Anna nodded with a serious expression, but there was a hint of both joy and regret in her eyes.
…I suppose, for Anna, it was something she wanted to put an end to while this was still the Dukedom of Ramslett.
“But if there are monsters, it has its advantages for the town, right?”
“That… well… I suppose so.”
That’s right. The presence of monsters isn’t entirely a bad thing. If there are monsters around the town, adventurers will gather in search of magic stones as a resource. And when adventurers gather, inns prosper, and merchants prosper too. Then, those who supply the inns with food and consumables prosper, and the economy keeps turning. That’s how a town develops.
Before long, the survey of the targeted location was completed.
“Alright, that should be about right. Let’s look into it a bit more and then head back.”
“Yes”
And so we completed surveying the entire surrounding area and returned to Wishen.

Upon returning to Wishen, we visited my father-in-law’s office just as he had finished his duties.
“Father-in-law, we’ve just returned”
“Yes. Just a short distance from the sea along the river, there was a perfect hill.”
“Hmm”
“I also made a topographical map, which looks something like this. I still need to look into the geology and such…”
I said, handing over a parchment to which I had mapped the survey results.
“Hmm? What is this?”
“This is a map with precise topography. The thin lines are 10 meters wide and the thick lines are 50 meters wide.”
“Hmm? Hmmmmmm? Wh-what is this… Allen, you went to that place for the first time today, right?”
“Huh? Yes. That’s right. I created Buitor Rev. 2 and equipped it with a surveying function.”
“Hmm, I can’t believe something like this is possible…”
When I said that, my father-in-law’s expression grew grave.
“Father, Allen, used this power for the people–“
” know Allen isn’t the sort of man to entertain such strange notions. But still. If such an elaborate map could be created in just a single day, it would spell trouble if word got out.”
“But father-in-law, isn’t it too late to worry about me now?”
“That may be so… but if this map falls into the hands of Est’s people, then…”
Father-in-law frowned as he said that.
I see. That’s certainly true. I never imagined it could be used for invasion, but indeed, with maps of this level of detail, the Est Empire’s invasion of the Kingdom of Centraren would undoubtedly have been much easier.
On the other hand… I wonder. I’m not sure if I was able to make good use of it.
“But Father, with a map like this, development would be much easier.”
“That’s true. But this overly detailed map should be kept classified. It could easily become a source of trouble.”
“Yes, I understand. I will give it to others in moderation.”
“Yes, do that.”
Father-in-law nodded with a serious expression.
“So, where exactly do you plan to build the dungeon?”
“Yes. I intend to build a shrine atop this hill to enshrine the Wind God and the Ice Goddess, and create a dungeon beneath it.”
“I see. Hmm. If we want to ensure that the faith does not die out, building it as a temple from the start is a good idea. Do you have any architect in mind?”
“No, I was thinking of discussing that matter and also town development.”
“Hmm, I see. We’ll send our finest craftsmen to build the temple. But you must plan the town yourselves. Still, with the temple at its centre, the layout will likely fall into place naturally.”
“Got it.”
“Also, I’ll lend you this.”
Father-in-law said that and handed me a stack of papers.
“These are?”
“Here are the maps of the major cities in our Kingdom. It may be useful.”
“Thank you!”
After that, we gave some reports and then left from father-in-law’s office.
