Epilogue – 15: Former Villager A Conducts a Field Survey:-

Welcome folks,
–Aninsar

After sending Miryl-chan and the pervert to the elf village, we returned to Wishen and went to see my father-in-law.

“Oh! You two are back! How did it go?”
“Yes. I understand what the Wind God meant. I need to build a dungeon and make the temple there.”
“What? A dungeon? Is that something created by human hands?”
“With the help of Rho-sama, we learned what was written in an ancient book. With the help of the 【Alchemy】 skill, we can create a pseudo-dungeon. Then, with the help of the two gods, we will turn the pseudo-dungeon into a real dungeon. By doing so, the dungeon will become a place where the wind always blows and ice exists; that’s why I plan to make the deepest part of it a temple dedicated to the god of wind and the goddess of ice.”
“Is such a thing even possible…..?”
“Father-in-law, do you remember that there was a ruin near Lurden that was said to be the remains of an ancient dungeon?”
“Hmm, you two were doing research together, right?”
“Yes. That is said to be the ruins of a pseudo-dungeon. The pseudo-dungeon was not protected by the gods, and is believed to have lost its power when the magical energy stored in their cores was depleted.”
“…..But doesn’t the labyrinth give birth to monsters? Is that really the work of God?”
“According to Rho-sama, the dungeon produces monsters because prayers to the God have ceased in it.”
“Hmm, is that so? So, if the prayers to the god are done correctly, then we can eliminate the threat of the existing dungeons?”
“That is possible, but I think it would be difficult in reality.”

Certainly, dungeons that spawn monsters are troublesome. However, on the other hand, they also support the local economy, as in the case of Altmunt.

Normally, offering a proper prayer in it should work, but the frustrating thing is that it’s not that simple.

Besides, we don’t even know which gods were worshipped in the known dungeons. It remains a mystery as to why they have all been lost, but in reality, it will be difficult to restore them with just prayers.

“That’s true. So, the two of you have decided to create a dungeon, right?”
“Yes.”
“What kind of location is required for a dungeon?”
“As long as there is a certain amount of land, anywhere will do. But more than that, I would like to build a town so that prayers will never cease…”
“Hmm, that’s right. We were talking about entrusting the two of you with the territory, and this might be the perfect opportunity.”

Saying this, my father-in-law unfolded a map of the Ramslett Kingdom.

“Then how about this western coastline? Untouched forests are spreading out in this area. Here, we won’t overly provoke Est. Though Centraren and Westerdale may not be very happy about it, it’s far better than provoking Est.”
“I understand. Then, I will go and investigate the site next time.”
“Yes, do that.”

And so we ended up with the untouched forest along the western coast as our territory.

◆◇◆

“As far as the eye can see, it’s all forest.”
“Yeah”

Anna and I are riding the Buitor Rev. 2 and inspecting the area that will become our territory from the sky.

Below us, a vast forest stretches all the way to the coastline, and even when we look toward the land, the high ground is quite far away.

Given the terrain, it would be better to build towns and dungeons a little away from the coast. I have never heard of an earthquake occurring in the Ramslett Kingdom, but storms do come.

“Allen, wouldn’t it be better if it weren’t around here?”
“I agree”

It seems that Anna is thinking the same thing. We immediately turn the plane towards the north inland and search for a suitable location for construction.

Meanwhile, Buitor Rev. 2 scans the terrain for data and records it in its built-in computer.

That’s right. The Buitor Rev. 2 is a larger version of the Buitor Rev., and is equipped with various sensors that enable it to perform surveys.

Of course, I’m no expert on these matters, so I won’t be able to create a detailed layout document.

However, after eating the seeds of the Lunar Magic Grass, Anna and I’ve reached a level of magic power that’s beyond human. Thanks to that, we can now create something decent even from a vague image.

And, being an engineer at heart, that really got me fired up. Before I knew it, I’d ended up with a heavily electronic — or perhaps ‘magic-powered’ is more accurate, since it uses magic — machine to complete the aircraft.

After flying north for a few minutes, the forest vegetation began to change noticeably.

“Maybe the soil around here is less salty.”
“What do you mean?”
“Normal plants die from the salt in seawater, so I think the trees in the forests near the coast are probably strong enough to withstand seawater. And around here, seawater probably doesn’t reach even during high waves, so I think that’s why normal trees are spreading out in this area.”
“I see.”

Anna murmured in admiration.

Come to think of it, we never studied this kind of knowledge at the academy either, so it probably isn’t very widespread.

After flying a little further, we came across a wide river.

“Anna, let’s check the upstream of that river.”
“Yeah”

And so we headed toward the river.
