Epilogue – 17: Former Villager A talks about the future with his wife:-

Welcome folks,
–Aninsar

After dinner that day, I returned to my room and broached the subject with Anna.

“So, what kind of town do you want ours to be?”
“Eh? ….. Well, I suppose a town where the people can live happily is best after all. What about Allen?”
“I prefer a town where kids can live without going hungry. A town where even commoner kids aren’t forced to work, where they can study properly and play with friends—a town with that kind of life, I guess.”

Anna heard that and smiled softly.

“That’s wonderful. Among the children of commoners, there must surely be some with hidden talents like Allen. Such children must have a place to hone their talents.”
“Yeah”
“For that, we definitely need a knight order to protect the people from monsters.”
“Yeah. Proper city walls, too.”
“Yes”
“We also need to be careful about sanitation. We must properly maintain the water and sewage systems.”
“That’s true. But what about the water source? Since the sea is close, a well might be difficult.”
“In that case, I guess the only option would be to build a dam upstream and draw water from there.”
“If only there were a suitable place.”
“I see, right. Yeah…”
“Allen, it’ll be fine. The river was flowing.”

I don’t really have any basis for it, but when Anna says yes like that, it makes me feel like it’ll be okay.

“Once the town is built, I hope Jerome, Melissa, and Ciel will come visit too.”
“Ah, that’s right. They were a real help with that Lunar Magic Grass event.”
“Yes”

I can clearly imagine them.

I’m sure Jerome-kun is still under Melissa-chan’s thumb and is being used as a toy by the naughty Ciel-chan, all to herself.

“I wonder if Jerome-kun and the others would move to our town too.”
“Hehe. That sounds fun. But…”
“I know. Right now they are full with raising their kid.”
“Yes”
“Then, we need to properly develop the airport so people can easily come visit.” (TL:- Flow of the conversation here is confusing.)
“Right.”
“If possible, I’d like to make it a proper airport with a runway for crosswinds “
“For crosswinds? What do you mean?”

Ana stared at me with a puzzled look.

Oh, that’s right. Come to think of it, I haven’t properly explained the crosswind.

“Yes. Actually, it’s safer for a glider to face the wind as much as possible when taking off and landing. Otherwise, the wind can blow it around and cause a major accident.”
“That’s how it is, I see.”
“That’s right. And, you know, if gliders could be used by many different people in the future, it would be useful for disaster relief and would encourage more interaction between people. Of course, there is a risk that they could be used in war.”
“Yes, but that’s not all, right?”

Anna smiled gently and then looked straight into my eyes.

…Ah, I’m no match for Anna. She seems to see right through all my intentions.

“Well, you see. Flying in the sky is fun, isn’t it? That’s why I want more people to have this wonderful experience.”

As I revealed my true feelings, Anna continued to look at me with the same gentleness as always.

“Oh! That’s it! If we offered sightseeing tours by glider, wouldn’t that become a major tourist attraction?”
“Hehe, that’s true. I’d like to do that someday.”

Anna bursts into a big smile, then slinks over to me.

“Allen”
“Anna…..”

Anna’s face, as beautiful as a goddess, approached me, and before we knew it, our lips were touching.

“Allen, it’s time.”
“Yes”

We moved closer together and headed for the bed.

The following week, we met with the architects who had arrived. One of them will be chosen as the person in charge, and the construction will proceed.

As we were waiting in the reception room, there was a knock on the door from outside.

“Come in.”

Anna granted entry in her usual clear voice. The door opened immediately, and a well-dressed man of medium height and build entered. He then performed a subject’s bow at a slight distance from us.

“I appreciate your efforts. Take it easy.”
“Yes!”

As Anna spoke in a dignified voice, the man stopped bowing. The butler next to him then began to explain about this man.

“This man is called Filippo. He is said to be unmatched, especially in dome construction techniques.”
“I see. Then, Filippo, please take a seat.”
“Yes!”

Filippo took a seat in front of us and began to take out some documents.

“My name is Filippo. I conduct architectural work mainly in Wishen, under the authority of His Majesty. My speciality is church architecture, and I am proud to say that I am unrivalled when it comes to dome architecture.”
“Alright. What kind of buildings have you worked on?”
“Yes. Please take a look here.”

After saying that, Filippo showed us the documents.

“For instance, the grand dome of the Third Church in the western district of Wishen stands as one of the most monumental structures I have designed. Its ceiling, rivalling that of a cathedral in height, is adorned with numerous sculptures…”

Filippo continued to enthusiastically explain the buildings he had designed, but it seemed he was skilled at large-scale structures yet had no experience designing entire towns.

“Okay. Thanks for the explanation. Allen, do you have any questions for this person?”

When I shook my head, Anna gave a small nod.

“Filippo, thank you for coming today. May I have this document?”
“Certainly! Thank you very much!”

And so we watched Filippo leave the room.
